Lately, I had been visiting my parents graves regularly, always leaving fresh flowers for both of them.
But after several visits, I began noticing something unsettling.
The flowers on my father’s grave always remained exactly where I had placed them.
The flowers on my mother’s grave, however, kept vanishing.
At first, I told myself the wind had blown them away.
Or perhaps a cemetery worker had removed them by mistake.

Then she reached down, grabbed the flowers I had left the previous week, and tossed them into a nearby trash can without the slightest hesitation.

“EXCUSE ME! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?” I shouted, my voice shaking with anger and disbelief.
The woman went completely still.
Then she slowly turned around and looked directly at me.
